Five Ways to Slay the Last Week of Pinktober

‘Pinktober’ and ‘October is for Pink’ are terms used synonymously with that of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and its designated ribbon color pink. In the office, many sport their pink T-shirts every Friday of the month to support the cause. However, who says you have to wait until Friday? Pink can be incorporated into your daily office attire in many ways. But, before we get to that part, let us first look at what is most important – your health.

_Godly discipline is training that corrects, molds, or perfects mental faculties or moral character_ (1)

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer, and every 13 minutes, a woman loses her battle. These rates are extremely alarming; hence, all are encouraged to perform breast self-examinations regularly. Find out how in the video below.

Annual mammograms are recommended starting at the age of 40, unless the risk of cancer is high in your family whereby your doctor may recommend earlier mammograms. Regular self-examinations and annual check ups with your physician are key as early detection can significantly increase the chances of survival.

With just over a week left in Pinkober, here are five ways you can slay while spreading breast cancer awareness.

1. Pink Heels

Pink heels are quite versatile when it comes to adding a pop of color and style to your wardrobe. Simply swap out your black or nude heels for a pink pair.

2. Pink Scarf

A scarf can be worn with just about anything. Office wear is no different. Enhance your suit or dress by adding a scarf. This is one of the most inexpensive ways to transform your usual office wear into fashionable and chic, while still maintaining a professional look.

4. Pink Suit

Yes, a pink suit! Seems unprofessional? Not at all. Corporate fashionistas are no longer bound to the idea that wearing black or navy is the only way to look like a professional. Colored suits are in this season, and a level of professionalism can still be maintained once worn appropriately.

5. Blazers and Cardigans

Blazers and cardigans are the ultimate go-to to complete most corporate looks. This month, simply substitute your black blazer with a pink blazer or cardigan to complete your outfit. It is the perfect ensemble for casual Fridays as well!
